AVID Students Making a Difference in the Community

AVID would like to send out a BIG THANK YOU to all of the first period classes who helped with the Food Drive this year. The school collected 1,055 pieces of food to donate with the largest contribution coming from Miss Ortiz’s class with 256 items!

Students served at three different non-profits including the Fresno Rescue Mission itself, Catholic Charities and the Community Food Bank. Students were also able to engage in discussions about how to help the homeless without hurting those they are trying to help and received personal insight from people in the program. Based on the students reflections, they were able to take away ideas about the importance of choices, friends and hope that change is possible.
